USAF - Dec. 28, 1950 - 9th Medical Group, Travis AFB

                      Fairfield, California

Dear Gloria,

We had a wonderful trip from Chicago to California. We saw a lot of beautiful scenery, some of it was almost [unbelievable]. I got you four sets of salt and pepper shakers, I got them from Chicago, Utah, Nevada, Wyoming, and I will get you a set from California as soon as I get to town.

Rudy and I got transferred again today we are cooking in the largest military hospital in the U.S. Every day they fly some men from Korea to here. We got a boy in today without any arms or legs and only one eye. I didn't feel [too] good after I saw him.

I got four shots today, three in the left arm and one in the [right]. They were overseas shots. We have to get two more tomorrow. Then they will put us on 24-hour alert for shipment overseas.

They gave us some books and told us we had better learn how to speak a little Chinese, Japanese, and a little Korean. I'm trying to learn a little of each but I don't find it [too] easy.

By the way, were you in Williamsport on Dec 15? I was just wondering. A [buddy] of mine said he saw you.

Well, I guess this is about all for tonight.

Write soon.
